Hiroshima Day 2015
2015 Aug 6 was the 70th anniversary of the dropping of the
hydrogen bomb on Hiroshima. Among activities to mark the event was a silent vigil at the
war memorial in Katharine Street, Croydon.
The attendance was a rather disappointing eight people including four Croydon Friends.
Hiroshima Day - Reading
Lantern floating
In the evening at the Creekside Discovery Centre there was an informal read through of the
Grandchildren of Hiroshima script which has been created from testimony of
hibakusha (survivors of the atomic bomb).
People also had the opportunity to paint their own lanterns which were then floated off
down Deptford Creek.
